Seasonal illness is especially common in the elderly, who in the winter months tend to suffer from a decline in health even more than the rest of the population. We also know that resourcing can be especially difficult in health and care services at this time. This makes it even more important that we help care home residents avoid a trip to hospital or referral to another healthcare professional unless absolutely necessary.
At the webinar, Immedicare’s Clinical Lead, Rachel Binks, and Lead Pharmacist, Dawn Fleming, spoke about how we help keep care home residents well and out of hospital over winter. Nadra Ahmed CBE, Co-Chair of the National Care Association, also joined us with an insightful presentation on how prevention is always better than cure.
