rom 4th – 7th July, Annabelle Smith and Mark Hawker from Immedicare travelled to Mannheim in Germany to represent the UK supporting colleagues at NHS Liverpool CCG. Colleagues from France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Slovenia and The Netherlands were also in attendance. This event focused on exploring digital health and tech innovations through and post the Covid pandemic, and was part of an Interreg Europe project called Innovation in Heath and Care for All.

On Wednesday 6th, Annabelle delivered a fantastic presentation about Immedicare and the enhancements they have made to the service throughout the pandemic to further support the vulnerable in care homes. Examples of these enhancements include the introduction of the Care Connect Portal, which allows healthcare professionals from emergency departments, community teams, GPs and hospital discharge teams to connect with care homes via secure video. Implementing a remote deployment process and rapid scalability meant that Immedicare could meet the requirements of new and existing customers’ Covid response plans.

During Covid, Immedicare also enabled a virtual clinical supervision offer, to support care home staff with tasks such as medication rounds and wound dressings, and a virtual verification of expected death pathway was developed, supporting care home staff and families during a difficult time when lockdowns were introduced.

We asked Annabelle about her time in Mannheim and she replied: “Mark and I met some amazing people from all over Europe and shared some fantastic learnings, as well as squeezing in a visit to the beautiful city of Heidelberg. Overall we had a fantastic week!”
